My Visit to Doha

I went to Doha in Qatar last week to deliver several works a customer there. I also repaired two of my works he purchased at a earlier time. The customer Mr.Ahmed Al-thani... is a very kind and wonderful person. He greeted me wearing a traditional white costume of Arab tradition. I found it very cool.
I had visited Dubai in the Middle East once forty years ago. This was my first return to the Middle East. It is all so wonderful. Modern buildings, Islam Museum, Souqs (markets), all were amazing. I completely loved Qatar!!

A Facebook acquaintance Ms Ismini Karali a designer from Athens Greece manages a web site that introduces artists from all over the world... titled "The Beautiful People Project". I was delighted to receive a email from her telling me "You were chosen as a beautiful person" She requested a interview. I answered several questions and sent her a number of photos of my work. My latest work completed in 1/12

I produced this work from a photograph by the famous photographer Robert Doisneau(1912-1994). I have not been able to understand from the photograph what monger the shop is. I asked a French friend and he explained "The shop is like a junk shop, antique shop, and clothing shop as well" It seems he doesn't understand either...however he declared "Veysseyre" is a persons name.
The other thing that mystifies me is the black door on the right. This door is seen as if it is the side door of one shop and the entrance of another.
It's the above mentioned shop from Doisneau's photograph that I produced. The picture below is my work. The shop that I don't understand, therefore I have not yet named the piece because I have yet to figure out what type of shop it is.

5 rue du Louis Blanc

I mentioned before I was making a new Art In A box in 1/12 scale. The work is now completed. It's aold time gallery that I titled "5 rue du Louis Blanc" (5 Louis Blanc Street). I produced the outside as shown typically but made the inside with a atmosphere of surreal realism as in a art picture. I feel it went well...I will participate in the combination art pictures exhibition held at the gorgeous department store this Aug. in Tokyo. I will be exhibiting this one (not a miniature work).

I performed on TV

The daily TV news broadcast our exhibition in Yurakucho on Feb.15th. The pictures of our exhibition hall and studio were telecast and I performed on live TV answering questions for about 15 minutes. My heart was pounding in my chest as I had never had such a experience before. The news cast was nationwide so a frightening number of visitors from all countries crowded our exhibition hall the next day.

My family on New Year's Day

Every year, my sister's family joins us for the traditional Japanese food prepared for the day. Thepicture below was taken on the occasion this year.
Center front is my mother 90 years old and my wife on her right. Center back is myself, then my son's wife and my son to right. My son is working for Nintendo in Kyoto. Right end is my daughter who is running a small Cafe Gallery in Komagome. My sister on my left and her daughter who is a magazine writer who wrote my cover story in GEKKANBIJUTSU a monthly art magazine two years ago. Left end is my sister's husband who is an Advisor to a US media reporting Japanese coal & nuclear related news overseas. As he is a camera mania, every New Year's Day photo is taken with his camera.
Wishing you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year !
